Hi and welcome! I thought I would start my first blog post explaining how my small business first came about! I'll be completely honest with you, ever since leaving school, 4 years ago, I have been going from job to job, college to university and just never found my passion. I have always found it very hard to do the same thing day in, day out. In all honesty I get bored very easily, and I'm sure many of you can relate.
I got to a place where I felt very down and was diagnosed with depression. I just didn't get the point of getting up in the morning to do the same thing I did yesterday, it wasn't a nice headspace to be in. During the first lock-down, like everyone, I was constantly scrolling through TikTok and came across a video of someone creating amazing items using resin. This is where it all started!
I decided to purchase a few items and have a go at the whole resin thing, and I absolutely fell in love! I started making a few necklaces and just posting them on my Instagram, and to my surprise I got asked whether they were for sale! Therefore, after a little while of building up the courage, I decided to start an Etsy shop! It was quite slow at first and then just before and after Christmas my shop blew up! I was so shocked and a few months down the line I was able to make this my full-time job!
A year into being self-employed, and I haven't looked back since, I'm happier than I have been in years! I truly feel that running my own business has set me free from the depression and unhappiness I felt in day to day life. I am so grateful for all my customers, every single one of you means so much to me and being a small business, even social media interaction, is so important!
